I hate the Merriam-Webster word of the year

It is w00t. Supposedly this has something to do with Julia Roberts as well as that l33t speak thing the kids do.

I don't like the marriage of numbers and letters. I feel like a new language is evolving that will not make for very good poems. It will only make scary poems, and scary conversations. Someday we will just speak in numbers. Why do gamers get to invent a new language?

I think the label on this post says it all, but wow. This is pretty bad. Every time I read a magazine now, some crusty baby-boomer is trying to tell me what's cool on the interweb. They overuse words like "revolutionary." As in, "Myspace is a revolutionary new way of communicating electronically."

I kind of hate magazines. They make me think that a woman will never love me because I am not wearing the right shoes.
