I'm not doing anything exciting ever again until I finish this book

I wrote a book in May and June during my month off from teaching. The book keeps getting shorter and shorter. By the end of the day, there will be nothing left and it will be perfect.

Update: The book is finished. It is about explosions and hallucinatory visions of Gumby and contains an experimental Gorgonzola called The Thirty-three Strokes of Midnight. Some of it will be on failbetter.com around November. That’s probably all you need to know.

you look so mysterious in that photo. or like you are in one of those depression commercials with the sad music and dim lighting and moms staring into space across the breakfast table while their kids shoot passers-by out the window.

I'm hoping a depression commercial director will discover me soon and I can star in depression commercials to support my cats.

My cats will star in the depression commercials too. They usually look befuddled or bemused in photos though.

Congratulations to you, Meghan. I am slow. You are quick.

I took the photo down because I suddenly realized my cat is so much more attractive than me.

animals are always cuter than humans; it's the fur. if humans were furrier we'd be cuter. just grow out all your body hair for the rest of your life. you will be so much hotter than your cats.

I think it was just-finished-book hubris that made me ever think I could be more attractive than a cat. I'll remember this next time.
